My Hope Heaven

Categories: The Pastor's Blog

We know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we dies and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.  We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.  2 Cor. 5:1-2 NLT

This Sunday night, November 9th, is the “My Hope Heaven Youth Rally” at the Augusta Theater.  Doors open at 6:30pm and it starts at 7pm.  We hope to pack it out with students and families from butler county.  You can help by inviting people to come.  It’s free, youth praise band, music from Central Christian, Speaker Jason Lowery and the Billy Graham video “Heaven”, which will be released this weekend.  It will be awesome and in all last till 8:30pmish.

All my life I have probably thought more about heaven than the average person.  It has helped me want to focus on the end, whenever that happens.  The path we are on eventually leads us to our destiny.  That is because we understand that God is drawing us to Himself.  Many in our community and around the world are oblivious of this and aren’t very concerned either.  That is where you and I can make a difference.  Our relationship with God should bear fruit and part of that fruit is the desire to see others have what we have.  To hoard it like the person who hides the one talent God has given them, is wrong on many levels.  We found out about God, his plan, his Word from others and through that we came to know Him.  I am eternally grateful for all who have helped me know Christ.  It’s like the Blues Brothers version of the song, “Shout” .  Knowing Jesus makes me want to shout with enthusiasm, dance with joy, and celebrate every person who comes to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Knowing what is worthy of our whole lives helps us cherish everyday as a day we have to live for fully Christ.

My hope is you know about heaven.  God has a place prepared for each of us and eternity as incomprehensible as it is, is perfect and greater than we can imagine.  We grow weary in these bodies but God will make us new when that day comes.  I want to be reminded daily and I want others to know what life is “really” all about.  Everything changes.  Come Sunday night, bring and encourage others to come and we will together embrace the One True God who’s love goes deeper and beyond our wildest understanding, who’s unconditional grace draws us to Him, and who chooses to put His Spirit inside of those that follow.  The cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to those who are being saved it is eternal life.  I am overwhelmed by the mercy of God and what he’s done in my life, may you come to know that mercy, it is available to all who call upon His name.
